Sadly #VirgoSeason has come to an end but luckily, I was able to celebrate while it was still lit, AYE!!! I have to admit, we are SUPER obnoxious when it comes to our time, but we deserve to be. Anyway, I typically reserve hosting a party for when I’m celebrating a milestone birthday. But this year hit a little different. I figured since I’ve survived the pandemic, corona-free so far this was a cause for celebration.
Despite what you may see in the news or on social media, we’re all NOT turning up in Atlanta. I knew I wanted to keep things “lowkey”, so I planned a small gathering with some friends at my home. In true Virgo fashion, my simple plans spiraled into something kinda extra AF (why are we like this?). It was my sister’s birthday too (we’re a year and two days apart), so it was a double celebration!
I knew immediately that I wanted to have a photo shoot party. It doesn’t require nearly as much planning or decorating, but is equally as fun. The difficult part was deciding on the theme. We considered a few different options before unanimously going with something insecure inspired! If you’re a fan of the show, then you know that Season 4 featured the infamous block party. That’s where I drew inspiration to create the digital invitation and signage. Giving a direct nod to the show, we labeled everything as “lowkey _____” because that was the theme of the episodes.
This show helped us escape the beginning of the pandemic every Sunday for about 30 minutes, so it was the perfect escape for our birthday. As our guests arrived, we took their temperature and invited them to take photos in front of the backdrop with a sign of their choice. And then we hopped in. It was a night full of good vibes only! We thank everyone pictured and not (people were late AF and missed their professional photo op) for coming out to celebrate us and all of our friendors for bringing our vision to life!
